Draft, pending legal review

This privacy policy is a working draft. It describes what Quizatry actually does, but it has not yet been reviewed by a lawyer and may change before launch. Highlighted items are still to be filled in.

The short version

  • Quizatry has no accounts, no advertising, and no tracking across other apps or websites.
  • The app does not collect your name, email, location, contacts, photos, or any identifier issued by your phone or its platform.
  • With diagnostics switched on (the default), the app sends anonymous gameplay results and crash reports so we can fix bugs and tune question difficulty. You can switch this off any time in Settings → Privacy → Share anonymous diagnostics.
  • If you choose to report a problem with a question, that report is sent.
  • We don’t sell your data, and we don’t share it with advertisers or data brokers.

Who we are

Quizatry is published byLEGAL ENTITY NAME(“we”, “us”), REGISTERED ADDRESS. We are responsible for the personal data described in this policy. For anything about privacy, email[email protected].

The Quizatry app

The installation ID

On first launch the app creates a random value, the installation ID, and stores it on your device. It isn’t derived from your device, phone number, advertising ID, or anything else about you, and deleting the app deletes it. It is attached to the reports below so that, for example, one phone answering four hundred questions doesn’t look like four hundred phones answering one. It is not linked to an account (there are none) or to any information that identifies you.

1. Gameplay results

One record for each question judged: the question’s ID, category and difficulty, whether it was judged correct, whether the answer clock ran out, the Oddball connection judgment where there is one, how many seconds passed before the answer was revealed, the answer clock setting, and the app, platform and question-pack versions.

Not included: who was playing, team names or colours, the score, the board, who won, or how long the game lasted.

Why: to measure how hard each question really is and correct its difficulty rating. Results are kept on your device during a game and sent between games, never during play.

2. Crash reports

If the app crashes or hits an error: the error’s name, message and technical stack trace, a short trail of the last few screens visited, and the app, game engine, platform, operating system and question-pack versions.

Not included: your device’s name, or anything you typed.

Why: to find and fix bugs.

3. Question reports you choose to send

If you report a problem with a question, we receive the question’s ID, the reason you picked, any comment you typed, and a copy of the question as it appeared on your screen. The comment box is optional free text, so please don’t put personal information in it.

Why: to review and correct questions. Reports are sent whether or not diagnostics are switched on, because you chose to send them.

Your controls

Settings → Privacy → Share anonymous diagnostics controls gameplay results and crash reports. Switching it off stops collection and deletes anything on your device that hasn’t been sent yet. Question reports are only ever sent when you file one.

Question updates

When your phone is online, the app checks for an updated set of questions and downloads it if there is one. This request carries no installation ID or personal information, but like any internet request it reveals your IP address to the server that answers it.

Where app data goes

Reports are stored in a database we control, hosted by Supabase, Inc., which acts as our processor. Data is stored inSUPABASE PROJECT REGION. The app can only add reports; it cannot read any back. Only the people who review questions and fix crashes can read them.

This website

quizatry.com is a static website hosted and delivered by Cloudflare Pages. Like any web server, Cloudflare processes your IP address and basic request details (such as browser type and the page requested) to deliver pages and protect against abuse. The site sets no cookies of its own.

If we turn on visitor statistics, we will use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which doesn’t use cookies or local storage, doesn’t fingerprint your device, and doesn’t track you across sites.

Links to Facebook and Instagram are plain links. We don’t embed their widgets, feeds or tracking pixels. If you follow a link, their privacy policies apply on their sites.

The waitlist

If you join the waitlist, we collect your email address, and nothing else, to tell you when Quizatry launches and send occasional updates about it. We store it with our email provider, Kit (Kit Inc.), which acts as our processor. You’ll be asked to confirm your address, and every email includes an unsubscribe link. You can also ask us to delete it at any time by emailing [email protected].

Our legal basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

Support emails

If you email us, we use your email address and what you write to reply and help you. We keep support emails only as long as needed to deal with your request.

How long we keep data

  • Gameplay results and crash reports: RETENTION PERIOD, e.g. 24 months, then deleted or aggregated.
  • Question reports: until the question is reviewed, and then RETENTION PERIOD.
  • Waitlist emails: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them.

Legal bases (EEA and UK)

We process app diagnostics and question reports on the basis of our legitimate interest in keeping the game working and its answers correct. Diagnostics can be switched off at any time. We process waitlist emails on the basis of your consent.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or object to the processing of your personal data, and to complain to a data protection authority. Email [email protected] to make a request.

App reports aren’t linked to your name, email, or any account, so we usually can’t find a particular person’s reports. Deleting the app removes the installation ID, and after that nothing new can be linked to that install.

We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising, as those terms are defined in California law.

Children

Quizatry is a general-audience game. It doesn’t ask for, and isn’t designed to collect, personal information from anyone. The waitlist is not intended for children under 13 CONFIRM AGE THRESHOLD FOR YOUR MARKETS (e.g. 16 in parts of the EEA). If you believe a child has given us their email, contact us and we’ll delete it.

International transfers

Our providers may process data in countries other than yours, including the United States. Where required, transfers are covered by appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.

Changes

If we change what the app collects, we’ll update this policy before the change ships, and update the date at the top.
